In the process of learning mathematics require the ability of teachers to have a learning scheme. By this scheme teachers are expected to have a systematic way of learning mathematics. So that learning mathematics can be systematic and structured. A learning process will be more effective if students are involved in a real experience by utilizing the five senses as well (Oemar Hamalik, 1989: 9). One method used in the process of learning mathematics is to use a calculator. Merriweather and Thrap (1999) stated that the use of graphing calculators in the classroom can cause students to be affected and involved in mathematics, and can solve mathematical problems in which the problem can not be resolved at that time.

However the use of calculators in mathematics learning can also lead to negative impacts, such as: students will have difficulty in express words in the language of mathematics into the calculator, if the use of graphing calculators without balanced ability to understand the operating procedures and to think mathematically it can cause high levels of dependence, lose of their self belief, and lazy thinking. So the use of calculators in mathematics learning process must be done correctly and wisely so that students do not depend continuously on the use of calculators.
